Pedro de Souza is an incoming assistant professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UCLA starting in March 2026. Pedro completed his BS in chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his PhD in chemical engineering at MIT under the supervision of Prof. Martin Bazant, where he developed mathematical models of the structure and transport of electrolytes near interfaces. As a ODBI2 Bioengineering postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University, Pedro worked with Prof. Howard Stone and Prof. Sabine Petry using theory and experiments to investigate biomolecular phase separation for processes related to cell division.
